About

On July 4,2010, Clarindo and Patricia, Rafael and Natalia, Rodrigo and Fabiana were anointed and sent by Prs. Charrier Bernardes and Luna to officially start a Shalom Church in Oxford, England.

Rodrigo, Fabiana and their children Marcelo and Yasmin opened their home to receive the Wednesdays and Sundays services. Their house has been used since their marriage in 2006, and their prayers for a church to be settled there began when Fabiana moved to Oxford in 2004. Now, their prayers have been answered by God.

A challenge has been given to us and now we are praying for not only a new church to be open, but that another door for the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to be shown to many nations and that God’s family can increase in numbers, to glorify Jesus and our Father as John 15:8 says.

A call from God

In 1979, Robin Scates, Eurenice Scates, Mário Lúcio dos Reis, Rosângela Leopoldino, Sueli Maestri and Clarindo Almeida went to Santos - SP, to visit the "Doulos" , one of the OM International Ships, and there, they participated in many services where many missionaries shared their experiences preaching Jesus around the world. In one of the services, the Holy Spirit touched Clarindo’s heart, calling him to go to Europe and to be a witness of Jesus love. That was a big challenge because he was a new Christian and he had been learning English for only 1 year. Besides that, his family was poor and couldn’t support him living abroad.

20 years later, Clarindo came to the UK at the invitation of Pastor Charrier and Luna to serve the Lord in this land at Shalom Christian Community in London.

Oxford - The City

Oxford, The City of Dreaming Spires, is worldwide famous for its University and place in history. For over 800 years, has been home to royalty and scholars, and since the 9th century an established town, although people are known for having lived in the region for thousands of years.

Currently, the city is a cosmopolitan city, bustling, still with its old university, but also home to a growing community of hi-tech. Many businesses are located around the city on one of the Science Parks and business or as part of a set of residential areas.

With its mix of ancient and modern, there is plenty for tourists and residents to do.

Charley and John Wesley lived in Oxford and from this city many missionaries were sent throughout the world including Brazil to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CS Lewis, author of several books like The Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe), lived and died in Oxford too.

Shalom Christian Community History

In 1963, Harry and Elaine Scates heard a call from the Lord and left the U.S. to live in Brazil with their daughter Robin. First, they lived in Campinas (SP) to learn Portuguese and, thereafter, they moved to Brasilia, where they stayed for four years with Pastor David Sanders. In 1969 they moved to Uberlandia (MG) and settled there.
They began to teach English at their school (Speak English) and the church services were held there. God used that place very much and in 1979, Pastor Iron, Zulmira and their children joined them in Uberlandia, bringing a new wave of the Holy Spirit to the Church, with family groups meetings which were being developed in the city. In the 1980s, no church grew considerably, having received a prophecy that it would be like the Church of Antioch, preparing and sending workers to “missions” to the ends of the earth. " Many brothers and sisters, moved to other cities and started a new church or helped existing churches in many places in Brazil.

In 1992, the group of pastors, including Harry and Elaine, Charrier and Luna, Jose Maria and Rosangela, Paulo Ruben and Neire and their children, and some other pastors came to London with "Go to the Nations Mission to help local churches here in Europe. After that, with the same view, churches were planted in London (Prs. Charrier and Luna (Shalom International Community); in Lyon - France - Prs. José Maria and Rosângela (Mission Ciel Ouvert); in Valencia, Spain - Prs. Cesar and Fatima (Comunidad Cristiana Luz para Las Naciones); in Monahan - Prs. Charrier and Luna with Josias and Mizelena. Now with Prs. Márcio and Fabiana are leading the church there.

Clarindo and his family moved to Joinville (SC) to help a church in 1994 and lived there until 2003.

In March 2003, Clarindo and Sibeli, joined Prs. Charrier and Luna in London, but Patricia, Rafael and Edgar could only come a year later as they had their entrance to the UK denied at Heathrow Airport, after eight hours of interview. God had his plans and their student visas were changed to a five-year work permit, granted by the Home Office UK visas through Life Line Learning Centre (Sister Judy Wellington). Now they have the Indefinite Leave to Remain visa (permanent residence) to the glory of God.

Working together, Pr Charrier and Clarindo started cell groups in Reading and then at Oxford.

We believe we are called to touch all "nations" and we'll do our best to fulfill God's plan, as Matthew 28:19-20.
