All the grace we need

At Christ Church, there is a pond in the middle of Tom Quad where Mercury Statue stands. Visitors are attracted by the beauty of the garden and atmosphere and always want to go there despite the signs telling them not to.

We, the Custodians have to ask them to go back to the visitors’ route.

Some of them argument about the people walking around it and we have to tell them that only “Members” of the house, residents, staff and Christ Church students are allowed there.

It’s good where you are allowed to do things others don’t. Give us are fellng of importance.

Who wouldn’t like to be allowed to have tea with the Queen? To the enter at White House and give some advice to the President Obama whenever you wanted or to receive some advice from them?

In Hebrews 4:16 we read: Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

We can access God at any time in prayer. We don’t have to hold back anything in prayer. We don’t have to wonder if we are wasting our time. We have been authorised to enter His throne room, using the name of Jesus.

His throne isn’t a throne of judgement where nobody coud stand it. It’s a throne of grace, unmerited favour.

It’s a Throne because the One who sits on it is The Sovereign Ruler of the universe. It’s also where our Father gives His sons and daughters what we could never give ourselves.

He gives us what we don’t deserve and could never earn, from a throne that never runs low in its provision.

It’s All tied to our drawing near prayer.

God has all the grace we need to help us, but we have to go before His throne to ask for it.

If you don’t pray, you don’t get. If you are not praying for your spiritual growth, for your needs, you won’t have it.

Notice, the grace we receive at God’s throne is designed to help us “in time of need”. Think of that: Grace is given based on the need of the moment. God will not give you tomorrow’s grace until tomorrow.

In Ecclesiates 3:1 we read there is a time for everything... and God is perfect in His time.

But we can go to His presence whenever we need. Jesus can help us because He suffered and experienced Himself all we are experiencing today.

In Isaiah 53 we read:

1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b] 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. 11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors.

For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

I don’t know what it is your need today but God knows and He is willing to come in your rescue. He knows how you feel and you are allowed to come to His presence through Jesus Christ.

Why don’t you commit your life to Him today?
