An answer to great call

All of us have been called to go to all nations and make disciples. These words echo in our spirit and we cannot say we were not asked to do it as we were asked to be like Jesus.

What are we doing with this calling?

In Isaiah 6: 8 we read: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’

What are we saying to our Lord? What can we do to have success?

The first thing we have to realise is that the Lord doesn’t see us the same way we see it.

He sees us with a great potential and He believes we are able to do it, otherwise He wouldn’t ask us to do it...

But there are some requirements to be followed so that we can succeed.

1. Commitment – Real leaders, winners don’t quit; they put their trust in the Lord and go for it.

In Isaiah 50:7, Isaiah says: Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

In Psalm 57:7 the psalmist says: My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.

The word steadfast means: to have a commitment that is as strong as a rock... Only when have a commitment or when we are in love with something, we are motivated to do that thing or to die for it.

That’s Jesus was able to die for us at the cross, commitment and love.

Only with God’s strength we will be able to handle the demands of people, pressures that come on our way.

2, Creativity – Someone wrote: “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which prosperous circumstances would let it be sleeping (dormant). Problems unlock your creativity and God will speak to you!

A Chicken farmer was having problems with flood in his property. The flood was killing his chicken. He prayed and prayed. He couldn’t sell his farm and couldn’t buy another. He was praying and he talked to his wife who gave him an answer from God: buy ducks... their life changed after that.

3, Compassion – love – Bob Pearce said: Let my heart be broken by the things that break the heart of God...

In Matthew 9:36, Matthew recorded what he had seen: When He (Jesus) saw the multitude, He was moved with compassion.

It’s interesting that we can love the crowds but not the people... Yes, people are more demanding, they are difficult ... not always grateful...

I will finish here reading Philippians 3:14 -I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.
